Our origin story

The Outlaws Apothecary began in the middle of our suburban yard—with seedlings, hand-built planters, and a big dream we were tired of putting off. We’re a family of four turning our ordinary lot into the beginning of a self-sufficient, eco-friendly micro-farm.

I’m Jordan—the plant caretaker, medicine maker, and herbalist-in-training. My partner Ian is a builder, carpenter, and literal jack-of-all-trades. He crafts every single planter using shou sugi ban, a traditional Japanese wood preservation technique that lets us skip the chemicals and plastics. Our kids are all in: Samuel (8) is designing his future system of giant fish ponds, and Rinna (3) is our dirt-angel-making, flower-collecting sidekick.

What started as a way to care for ourselves—herbs for sleep, tinctures for immune support, salves for scrapes—quickly turned into something bigger. Outlaws is rooted in family, rebellion, and remembering how to heal ourselves with what grows around us. Our focus is small-batch, wildcrafted, and earth-honoring remedies made with love and zero nonsense.

We’re currently offering handcrafted herbal tea blends, medicinal seedlings, heirloom tomatoes, and traditional planter boxes—all made or grown by us. Everything we sell supports the next step in our dream: a bigger farm, more plants, and a life lived in alignment with the land.

But Outlaws isn’t just about what we grow—it’s about what we’re building. We want others to feel empowered to start where they are, even if it’s a balcony garden or a kitchen windowsill. Through our weekly “Trial by Fire” video series, we’ll share our mistakes, experiments, and hard-won lessons so you can learn right alongside us. This isn’t perfection—it’s permission to try anyway.

We’re not waiting for the perfect land or perfect timing anymore. We’re living the dream now—messy, hopeful, and one plant at a time. Thanks for being here.
